Version 1.84.41 iOS and Android

Dates that stay on the day you entered

Most of this version went into Calendars and the dates underneath them. If you live west of Greenwich, or the clocks changed while you were looking at your weeks, you may have seen a birthday or a milestone sit a day off, and that no longer happens. Around it there are a good many smaller repairs in Converter, Calculators, reminders and backups, the kind you notice only when they get in the way.

New

  • Step-by-step guides open from the Calendars help

    Life calendar

The first slide of the Calendars help now has a link to guides with screenshots on our website. They open right inside the app, so you can read a guide and go back to your calendar without switching anywhere.

Improved

  • A milestone file with a mistake in it changes nothing

    Life calendar

If a file of milestones has one that ends before it begins, the import stops before anything in the app changes and tells you the number of the milestone to look at. Your calendar stays exactly as it was until the file is right.

  • Export starts with everything ticked

    Account

The first step of Export Data now has every collection selected, so a backup holds all your data unless you choose to leave something out. When the export finishes, Data Backup shows the new Last Backup straight away.

  • Empty Statistics cards take you to Life Expectancy

    Statistics

When Overview or Life has nothing to show because your birthday or life expectancy is missing, the line under the card is now a button that opens Life Expectancy. Before, it looked like a link and did nothing when tapped.

  • The Life timer card says what the timer shows

    Life calendar

The card on the Calendars tab now describes the timer as you will see it, as a running clock of the time left, in weeks down to seconds or as one number, and the share of life already lived.

  • Import names its choices more clearly

    Account

On the strategy step of Import Data, Merge and the other strategies that delete nothing are marked Keeps your data. Before, that mark said Safe, the same word as a strategy right below it that is not available yet. The last step no longer says your data is back on this device after you have only added new milestones, and shows what the file added, updated and skipped instead.

  • The prompt for an AI assistant matches the screens

    Life calendar

The import steps at the end of the prompt you copy from the Calendars help now name the menu as the app does, Data & Privacy, and say that Merge is already selected, so you only need to tap Next.

  • The profile fields have labels

    Account

The name and email fields in your profile now carry visible Display Name and Email labels, like the rest of the form, and a screen reader announces them.

Fixed

  • Birthdays and milestones stay on their day in any time zone

    Life calendar

West of Greenwich, a birthday or a milestone could show up a day early, and when the clocks changed, a date right at the start of a week could slip into the week before. Dates now stay on the day you entered them, and the age marks in Life fall on the week of your actual birthday.

  • Years counts your age from 0

    Life calendar

Years now numbers its squares as ages starting from 0, so the first year of your life has a square of its own and the grid ends where your expected life does.

  • The Life timer ends on the same day as the grids

    Life calendar

The Life timer counts down to the day your calendars end on, and its hours no longer shift with your time zone.

  • Part of a year in your life expectancy is kept

    Life expectancy

When your life expectancy carries part of a year, say 84.85, the current week card, Statistics and the calculators keep that part too. Before, they ended everything on your 84th birthday.

  • Imported data shows up without a restart

    Account

A backup you import, or a file of milestones from an assistant, now appears in Calendars and elsewhere right away. Before, some of it stayed out of sight until you closed and reopened the app.

  • Converter History counts recent periods from today

    Converter

A saved period like Last 7 days now counts back from today each time you open History. Before, it stayed fixed on the day you picked it, and recent purchases dropped out of sight a week later.

  • Moving a purchase to a rate in another currency asks first

    Converter

There is no exchange rate in Converter to carry an amount from one currency to another, so moving a purchase to a rate in a different currency now asks before it goes ahead and lets you enter the amount again.

  • Rates show what is really there after you change them

    Converter

After you rename a rate, clear its history or delete it, the open rate form and Your rates show the new state. Before, they could keep the old name, the old count of purchases or a checkmark on a rate that was gone.

  • Editing a Planning calculation keeps its hours and type

    Calculators

Opening a saved Planning calculation to change it now brings back the hours and the type you chose. Deadline gives one range from the earliest date to the latest, where it could show them the wrong way round.

  • Wasted works out your average by itself

    Calculators

With Include my tracked time state ticked, Wasted now counts your average from your Time Entry records on its own. Before, it waited for Time Entry to be opened first.

  • Wasted and Basic name the right unit

    Calculators

The text under a Wasted or Basic result now reads "over 10 years" and "over the last 166 days". It used to say "10 year", and Wasted could call days weeks or months, depending on the period you picked.

  • The 24h chart fills its window

    Calculators

The 24h day chart now takes the full width of its window the first time it opens. Now and then it used to stay small in a corner until you closed the window and opened it again.

  • Save Reminder works when the time is set last

    Account

Save Reminder now becomes active when the time is the last thing you set. The list of reminders and the confirmation show the time the same way the picker does.

  • A weekly reminder asks for a day

    Account

A weekly reminder now asks you to pick at least one day before it saves, so it can no longer be saved to fire on none.

  • The swipe from the left edge stays out of the way on iPhone

    Across the app iOS only

On iPhone, a swipe from the left edge no longer pulls you off screens that have sideways swipes of their own, such as Statistics and Ages, and no longer slips past the question about unsaved changes while you edit a time entry.

  • The cards on the home screen move again

    Across the app iOS only

With Animations switched on in Settings, the cards on the home screen slide in when it opens, and the Journey card glows. In the previous version neither played, even with the switch on.

  • Statistics fills Your current year and Best Week

    Statistics

The Your current year ring is filled the first time you open Overview, and Best Week takes the full width of its card.

  • Time Entry says 1 day

    Time diary

The totals of Time Entry now say 1 day when there is just one, instead of 1 days.

  • Life Expectancy settings name the screens that use your default

    Life expectancy

The settings window and the last slide of the Life Expectancy help now say that Converter, Leftover and Statistics count from the default you pick, and that the calendars keep their own choice on the Calendars screen. Before, they said the calendars followed the default too, and asked for a birthday the window never checked.

  • Locale and Timezone in the profile are never blank

    Account

If your phone's language has no region, or your time zone is not in the list, the profile used to show Locale and Timezone as empty, and the button that finds your time zone looked broken. The fields now always show what is set.

  • Smaller fixes in Settings and backups

    Account

Export Data calls the Converter group Converter, where it used to say Convertor. The window opened by Reorder sidebar features now has the same name as the setting. The buttons at the bottom of the backup steps sit on a solid strip, so the content below them no longer shows through.

  • The FAQ describes the app as it is

    Account

Answers in the FAQ about importing a backup, what a backup holds and Your current year now match what the app does, and the number of questions under each section is the real one.

Removed

  • Sharing an opened notification

    Account iOS only

The share button is gone from an opened notification. Android already had it removed in an earlier version.
