Statistics

Statistics looks at the same time from three sides. Overview counts your own year, from one birthday to the next, and the stretch of life between your visits to the app. Time adds up the hours you logged in the diary, the wasted and the meaningful apart, and Life turns your whole expected life into years, weeks or even seconds.

There is nothing here to fill in, since the numbers come from your birthday, your life expectancy and your entries, and the screen grows more telling the longer you keep the diary.

Guides

  1. See how much of your year has passed

Open Statistics and see how far you are into your own year, the one that runs from one birthday to the next, in weeks, days and percent.

  2. See what passed while you were away

Open Statistics after a break and see how much time went by since you last had the app open, and what share of your life it was.

  3. Look back on your logged hours

See how many hours you logged as wasted and as meaningful in a day, a week, a month or a year, and how the two compare.

  4. Find the peaks in your logged hours

See which day and week took the most and the least of your time, and look at any stretch of dates you choose.

  5. See your life in numbers

See how much of your expected life is behind you and how much is ahead, in years, weeks, days or even seconds.

Questions and answers

Why doesn't my year start on the first of January?

Your current year is your own year. It starts on your last birthday and ends on the next one, so it tells how far along you are in the year that began on your day.

Why are there always 52 weeks, while the days are 365 or 366?

The weeks are the days that have passed divided by seven and rounded down, out of 52 for every year. The days follow the real calendar between your two birthdays, so a year with the 29th of February in it has 366.

Why is the card of my year or the Life tab empty?

Both are counted from your birthday, and the Life tab needs your life expectancy as well. The empty card has a line that opens the Life Expectancy screen, where you can set them, as Estimate your life expectancy shows.

Where is the life timer on Statistics?

At the very top of Overview, pull the list down until the timer slides out, or tap the button with an hourglass at the top right. Both appear once your life calendar is set up, and Life timer under Account and then Settings in the menu hides them along with the timer on Calendars.

What does Welcome back count?

It counts the time between the end of your previous visit and the start of this one, and the share of your expected life it took. A visit begins when you open the app, or when you come back to it after at least half an hour in the background, and the time away is counted from the moment you left it. See what passed while you were away walks through the card.

Why don't I see Welcome back?

The card compares two visits, so on the very first one it has nothing to measure yet and says "No visit history yet". A visit shorter than half a minute doesn't count as one, and without a birthday and a life expectancy the card stays empty too.

Do I have to answer the questions under Welcome back?

No. The app keeps no answers, and the questions are there for as long as you want to think about them. The set changes from time to time, at most once a day.

Why is the daily average so low at the start of a week or a month?

Daily Average divides the total by every day of the period, the days without entries and the ones still ahead included. In a week that has just begun most of its days are still to come, so the average grows as the week goes on.

Which day does a week start on?

On Sunday. Week always runs from Sunday to Saturday around the date it shows, and the arrows move it a whole week at a time.

Why is the best wasted day the one with the least time?

On the Wasted side, less is better, so Best Wasted Results shows the day and the week that lost the least time. On the Meaningful side it is the other way round, and the best day is the one with the most time you logged.

Why do I only see Best Day?

The longer stretches need a longer period. A week shows up once the period runs longer than two weeks, a month once it runs longer than two months and a year once it runs longer than two years, so Day and Week have only the best day.

Why is the week that is still going listed among the lowest?

A week or a month that hasn't ended takes part on equal terms with the finished ones, so on the meaningful side the current week, with only a day or two logged, often turns up as Lowest Week.

Where can I see the numbers of one topic?

Statistics adds up whole sides of the diary. One topic has its own totals and averages on the Overview tab of the topic in Topic Manager, as See how a topic adds up shows.

Where does the number of years on the Life tab come from?

From the life expectancy you chose on the Life Expectancy screen, and Choose the default life expectancy shows how to change it.

Can I export my statistics?

Not as a report. The numbers are always worked out from your entries, so keeping the entries keeps the statistics, and Back up your data makes a copy of all of them.
