Questions

Some questions are easier to carry around than to answer, and the Questions decks gather that kind, from what a good life looks like to what your time is actually worth. There are no right answers in them and nothing to get through, so one question that stays with you for a week is already enough.

These guides show how to move through a deck and keep the questions worth returning to, and how to take one into a conversation with an AI chat when thinking out loud comes easier.

Guides

  1. Reflect on a question

Open a deck of questions about life, time and meaning in Wastime, move through it at your own pace, copy the question that catches you and mark it with a heart.

  2. Talk a question through with AI

Send a question from a Wastime deck to ChatGPT or another AI chat as a prompt that guides you to your own answer, and choose the chat and the language it opens in.

Questions and answers

Where can I see all the questions I marked with a heart?

There is no separate list of them. The heart stays on the question itself, so you see it filled in whenever you come back to that question, in its own deck or wherever else the app shows the same question.

Do my answers get saved in the app?

The app doesn't keep answers. You copy the question and answer it wherever it suits you, and the app itself remembers only where you stopped in each deck and which questions carry a heart.

Are the hearts kept if I change phones?

They live on your device and go into a backup along with the rest of your data, so a backup brought into the new phone brings them back, as Restore your data from a backup shows. They don't sync between devices on their own.

How many questions are there?

586, in thirteen decks. Five of them, from about life to about time, open straight from the Questions screen, and the rest belong to other parts of the app and wait under From Calendars, From Topic Manager and From Calculators.

Can I read the questions in another language?

The questions are in English only. What changes is the prompt the app writes for an AI chat, which comes in ten languages and is set under Prompt language, as Talk a question through with AI shows.

How do I start a deck again from the first question?

There is no button for that, so the way back is to swipe down until the counter at the top reads 1 again.

Why do the same questions turn up in Calendars and the calculators?

These are the same decks, opened from other places in the app. In Calendars, the question mark button in the window of a milestone or a group leads to Questions to spark ideas, and the form of a topic in Topic Manager and the help of each calculator have a Questions about time and more card. The calculators also have decks of their own under From Calculators, such as 24h calculator, which picks up where a day laid out in 24h leaves off. A heart you set in one place shows in all of them.

Does the app send anything to an AI on its own?

No. It copies a prompt with the question and the line under it and opens the chat, and from there you decide whether to paste it. Nothing about you or your other data goes into the prompt.

Can I use a chat other than ChatGPT?

Yes. Put the address of any AI chat into Chat URL in Chat settings, and the button opens that one instead. Leaving the field empty brings back ChatGPT.
