Count the hours a daily pace gives a goal

Half an hour a day feels like very little until you add it up to a date you care about. Planning does that sum, and shows how many hours a goal gets by the end if you keep giving it the same small part of every day.

Before you start

Nothing has to be in place first. The name window works the same way as in Count the time left with someone, and the other questions of Planning are in Work out what a goal asks of you and Find out when a goal will be done.

Steps

  1. Ask for a total

On the home screen, tap Calculators, then Planning, and start a new calculation called Guitar practice. On the first of four steps, tap Calculation type and choose Total Time, the one for when you know the daily hours and the dates and want to know what they add up to. Tap Next.

Step one of four with Total Time as the calculation type
  2. Set the dates

The second step asks for the stretch of time. Tap Start date, turn the wheels to today, June 15, 2026, and tap Confirm, then set End date to December 13, 2026 the same way, which with both days counted makes exactly 26 weeks. Tap Next.

Step two of four with the start date 2026-06-15 and the end date 2026-12-13
  3. Say how much a day you can give

The third step asks for the daily pace. Set Min daily quota to 00:30 and Max daily quota to 01:00 on the wheels, each with Confirm. When the pace is always the same, the minimum can stay empty, and the total is then a single number. Tap Next.

Step three of four with a minimum daily quota of 00:30 and a maximum of 01:00
  4. See the total

The last step adds it all up, max 182.00 hours, min 91.00 hours and avg 136.50 hours over the 182 days, both ends counted, and the sentence under the numbers says it in words. Tap Save under the result, and the Name window keeps the calculation in Planning calculations, where it reads 91.00 min / 182.00 max hours total time.

The result with max 182.00, min 91.00 and avg 136.50 hours and the Save button

What's next

Set a goal for a topic shows how to turn the pace into a daily quota of a topic, and See how a topic adds up shows how the hours you actually log compare with it. For a habit rather than a goal, Basic does the same arithmetic over a round number of years, as See what a routine adds up to shows.
